YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge Youth Programs are part of the YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge, which focuses on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The YMCA of Virginia's Blue Ridge states that its mission is felt when an individual makes a healthy choice, when a mentor inspires a child, and when members of the community come together for the common good. The organization acknowledges and embraces that Christian principles are a significant part of its mission and identifies love, based on I Corinthians 13:13, as its defining Christian principle. It applies this principle of love through holistic programming and states that it chooses to love all people, including people of all races, genders, and belief systems. The Y reports a 160-year history of listening and responding to critical social needs in communities. Through the Y, 500,000 volunteers along with donors, leaders, and partners across the country are involved in empowering people in the U.S. and around the world to be healthy, confident, connected, and secure.
