About
Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir brings together children to sing traditional and fun choral music, including a wide variety of choral music from different genres, cultures, and time periods. The program includes introductory singing classes, a shorter 6-week choir program for ages 4–6 called “The Little Singers” choir, and an in-depth study of the voice in a choral setting. Choristers in 1st–12th grade are divided into three Training Choirs and a Concert Choir, and they take part in festival performances, solo performances, an annual RVCC Holiday Concert, an annual RVCC Spring Concert, and a Community Sing-A-Long.

• Schedule: Introductory singing classes for rising 1st–12th grade students on Monday, June 15th, 6:00–6:45 PM; includes a shorter 6-week choir program for ages 4–6
Founded in 1987 by Director Kimberly Ruse Davidson, Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir is an independent, non-profit organization supported by 31 volunteer committees and nearly 200 volunteers. The mission of the choir is to provide youth with exceptional musical instruction and performance opportunities in a safe and inclusive environment. About 150 children in Kindergarten through 12th grade from around the Roanoke Valley and from 65 different schools throughout the Roanoke Valley and surrounding communities participate each week. The choir performs with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, Opera Roanoke, at local schools and churches, and for an annual Community Sing-A-Long.
Roanoke Valley Children’s Choir has been a featured choir at the ACDA Southern Conventions in 2008, 2014, and 2020 and at the National ACDA in 2015, and it received the Perry F. Kendig Arts and Cultural Organization award in 2022. Testimonials describe the choir as the best prepared and most enthusiastic children’s choir, note that the singers receive training at the highest level, and state that Ms. Davidson’s work with the choir represents the highest level of musical and artistic integrity.
