US9 Baseball was established in Fall 2020 as the Northern Virginia expansion of the Boston Prospects and offers camps through Fairfax County Park Authority. US9 Baseball camps are run by seasoned US9 Baseball coaches, led by Head Coach and Manager Steve Mrowka and Associate Head Coach Mike Cowell. Steve Mrowka has 22 years of collegiate coaching experience, including 8 years at George Washington University, 609 career wins as a college head coach, and has coached 135 student-athletes who signed to play professional baseball, including eight first-round selections and 17 major leaguers. He was a two-year starter in the University of North Carolina Tar Heels infield, played in the Cape Cod and Alaska Baseball Leagues, was a ninth-round draft choice of the Boston Red Sox in 1985, and earned an M.Ed. in Sport Management from the University of Georgia. Mike Cowell has dedicated the last 20 years of his post-professional career to teaching young players, played Varsity baseball at W-L High School where he twice made 2nd Team All-State VA as a catcher, played at Old Dominion University where he led Division I in throwing out runners in 1993 and 1994 as the starting catcher every game, and played professionally in the AA Western Baseball League under former MLB managers Jeff Burroughs and Buck Rodgers.

The program’s stated mission is to develop the skills and positive winning-culture mindset players need to be competitive on their high school team, with a commitment to providing quality instruction, coaching, and opportunities, and a core belief in pushing for excellence and continued improvement as teammates and individuals on and off the field. One testimonial shared in the program materials is the quote, “There may be people who have more talent than you, but there's no excuse for anyone to work harder than you.” – Derek Jeter.
