American Shakespeare Center Education Programs include Playhouse Tours, a Virtual Playhouse Tour, student matinees, workshops, immersive theatre programs, Summer Theater Camps, drama clubs, and community programs. The program also offers “No Kidding” Programs for Adults to read, rehearse, and perform classic plays, as well as Shakespeare Uncorked pre-show wine and beer tasting events.
• Schedule: Box office hours are Wednesday–Friday 1:00 PM–5:00 PM, Saturday 12:00 PM–4:00 PM, and Sunday 12:00 PM–4:00 PM.
At the American Shakespeare Center, the stated mission is to advance understanding, imagination, and community by illuminating Shakespeare through performance, research, and education in the Blackfriars Playhouse and beyond. The organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Its community involvement includes student aid, local partnerships, and collaborations with universities, businesses, and cultural institutions. Unique features of the programs include actors performing multiple productions in rotation in a repertory model, live music with popular songs from today’s time, and a Shared Light approach that connects actors and audience. Additional accessibility features include Culture Pass, ASL interpretation, Pay-What-You-Will nights, and veterans’ discounts. “No Kidding” Programs for Adults take place on the Blackfriars stage with ASC Education Artists and other special guests, and the Virtual Playhouse Tour includes locations that are not accessible to the public on in-person tours.
