About
Wakefield Christian Camp offers worship services, prayer, and reflection along with a variety of recreational activities such as frisbee, gymnastics, lawn games, soccer, basketball, and swimming in a pool. Campers also have access to crafts, play on a children's playground, and spend time at a camp fire area. The program uses indoor and outdoor spaces for both group gatherings and smaller activities.
Wakefield Christian Camp is led by Linda Strickland. The mission of Wakefield Christian Camp Association states that it offers a setting for people to escape and “unplug” from the day-to-day world and be transformed in its rustic sanctuary. The camp can accommodate a total of 124 campers and includes a central tabernacle that seats 700 people, a Prayer Chapel that can be used for solitude or as a classroom for up to 20 guests, an open air pavilion with picnic tables, and a pool that is available as a rental item for groups’ summer stays. The entire camp is rented to a single group at a time, and the kitchen is furnished with cooking utensils so groups can bring their own cooks and food. Wakefield Christian Camp Association notes that it is located in Wakefield, Virginia, which is described as the Peanut Capitol of the World.
