About
Bainbridge Performing Arts Theatre School offers an ongoing Theatre School program for children and adults as part of a larger nonprofit community theater and event space. The organization produces 5 Mainstage plays and musicals and 3 Studio Series plays each season, along with 4 full-orchestra concerts, multiple Chamber Music concerts from the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra, and monthly Improv with The Edge. It also hosts events such as Island Theatre’s 10-Minute Play Festival, the Island Treasure Awards, The Seattle International Comedy Competition, and Bainbridge Dance Center’s annual show.

Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra, which is part of Bainbridge Performing Arts, was originally founded in 1972 and was adopted under the Bainbridge Performing Arts umbrella in the spring of 1993. The orchestra unites artists spanning generations and skill levels and has performed in venues including the Bainbridge High School LGI Theater, Saint Barnabas Church, Bloedel Reserve, Bainbridge Alliance Church, and Schneebeck Hall at the University of Puget Sound. Music Director and Conductor Ryan Dakota Farris is currently pursuing his doctorate in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Washington, where he serves as conductor of the Campus Philharmonia and assistant conductor of the University of Washington Symphony, and he has studied with Michael Jinbo and other notable conductors. Bainbridge Performing Arts notes that ticket sales account for approximately 37% of its annual budget and expresses gratitude to community members who have contributed time, energy, money, and audience support to this volunteer organization.
