Explorer Camp Bellevue - K to 1st Grade - Day Camp is part of Avid4 Adventure’s one-week Explorer summer camps for 5 and 6 year olds entering Kindergarten or 1st Grade, with a camper to staff ratio of 5:1. Parents and campers meet staff at a consistent location daily, and Avid4 Adventure transports campers to recreation areas for the specific adventure sport, then returns groups to the facility for afternoon pick up. Outdoor activities are balanced by creative pursuits such as yoga, art, and music, and campers are strongly encouraged to bring their own bike for biking day with training wheels removed before camp. Every activity starts with a discussion about risks, prevention, and response, campers learn Leave-No-Trace principles on hikes, and they use top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids. The camp is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which includes a free future camp if its stated promises are not met, and discounts are offered for multi-session or sibling registrations, referrals, and qualifying service professions.

Avid4 Adventure states that its instructors are all 18 and older, are described as incredibly well-trained and professional staff, and are hired as high-class outdoor educators with serious safety and skills training. The leadership team includes founder David Secunda, who is a former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. Avid4 Adventure’s mission is to give kids a love of outdoor activity and to ensure the future caretaking of the planet, based on a belief in the transformative power of the outdoors and a goal of setting kids on a trajectory of lifelong outdoor adventure and stewardship. The organization is accredited by the American Camp Association, is a Certified B Corp, and has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps, and it operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service as an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Parent testimonials describe children learning new outdoor skills such as riding a bike without training wheels and enjoying activities like stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and biking. Parents also report that their children were eager to share what they learned each day and continued talking about the camp weeks after it ended.
