About
Karate Edge Summer Camp is part of the Karate Edge martial arts school’s programs and includes martial arts classes for kids. Campers take part in age-specific kids martial arts classes that use the World-Renowned SKILLZ Martial Arts Program for Kids, which is used by thousands of schools worldwide. The camp is described as an action-packed experience kids won’t forget, where they can have wholesome fun and be part of a camp community of support, kindness, respect, and friendship.
• Ages: 3–14 years old
Karate Edge offers Preschool Martial Arts, the Early SKILLZ program (described as a Superhero Toddler Program), the Basic SKILLZ program (described as a mini life-hack for 5–6-year-olds), the Core SKILLZ program that focuses on discipline, focus, respect, and a can-do attitude, and the Extreme SKILLZ program that addresses teen and pre-teen challenges. Summer camp is led by highly trained kids martial arts instructors and is part of a broader set of options that also includes Adult Martial Arts classes, an After School Program that keeps children safe and learning skills for life, and Kickboxing. Families are advised to have children wear comfortable clothes they can do sports in and to bring a water bottle to martial arts classes.
Karate Edge has been proudly serving the community since 2005 and states that its mission is to change lives through martial arts, education, and coaching in a safe, comfortable, and welcoming atmosphere for students and family members. The mission also states that the program is built on holistic development that includes physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects, and that martial arts can be for everyone, regardless of age, gender, or experience level. Karate Edge provides martial arts classes to the Edgewood, Milton, Fife, Federal Way, and Puyallup communities and notes that its programs aim for realistic and practical training.
Parents in testimonials describe strong positive reinforcement, a welcoming family culture, and instructors who are great with kids. Several parents mention that their children love the summer camps and find them really active and fun, and one parent notes that kids forget their iPad at camp. Testimonials also mention that instructors and senior belts take time to get to know every student, that the staff is friendly and helps shy kids come out of their shell, and that Karate Edge has an impact on the community they are in.
