About
Issaquah FC Youth Soccer Programs offers recreational soccer, select soccer, premier soccer, and individual skills clinics. Recreational, select, and premier soccer give players different levels of competition, and the individual skills clinics focus on specific soccer techniques in small groups.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Recreational soccer has a 3–4 month commitment; select soccer has a 6–10 month season; premier soccer is year-round.
Issaquah FC states that its mission is to provide a complete set of youth soccer programs for the Issaquah area and to offer soccer for kids ages 4–18 at the level they choose, from recreational to premier and levels in between. Recreational soccer is community-based and does not have tryouts. Select soccer is more competitive and has tryouts. Premier soccer is described as the highest level of competition in youth soccer in this club’s structure, is year-round, requires a greater time commitment, and sometimes includes out-of-state travel, and it draws players from multiple communities within the region. The individual skills clinics have small group sizes, are led by Gordon Hill, a former Manchester United and England National Team player, and focus on improving players’ skills in three basic elements: control, pass, and move.
Issaquah FC is part of the Eastside Youth Soccer Association (EYSA) and is one of four local member clubs that provide recreational and select levels of competition. Players who want a higher level of competition and commitment can try out for EYSA’s premier club, Eastside FC, based in Preston. The club notes that anyone can play with Issaquah FC, and that it is primarily the neighborhood club for the Issaquah School District. Issaquah FC states that it believes soccer is more than a game and that it is a vehicle for building confidence, resilience, and character, and that it is not just building athletes but developing the leaders of tomorrow. The club collaborates with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) and other national organizations such as the US Soccer Federation (USSF) with a focus on coaching with purpose, competing with character, and supporting every player's full potential.
