The camp also features go-karts, water play with water tag, inflatable slip n’ slides and a giant sprinkler, as well as bounce houses, a Bounce House Combo, a Bouncy House, and traditions like Find Chuckie, Friday Pie-Day, Friday Bubble Party, Friday Go-Karts, and other weekly specials.
• Ages: 4–12 years old
• Schedule: Camp runs Jun 18–Aug 21, with camp hours from 8:00am–6:00pm and closure on July 3.
Steve & Kate’s Camp has been operating since 1980. The Redmond camp is led by a Director named Sheri. The camp follows a philosophy where campers choose which activities they do, whom they do them with, and for how long. Families can buy any number of day passes, attend camp on any day within the season, and receive automatic refunds for unused purchased Day Passes after the camp season has ended; if a Summer Pass is underused, the difference between the pass and daily rate is automatically refunded. Long camp hours, snacks, lunch, and all activities are included in all-inclusive rates with no additional fees, and meals and snacks are included. Parents can drop off and pick up at any time within camp hours, and more than 70–90 locations are described as “islands of freedom” in different sections of the program’s materials. Weekly specials may include giant inflatables, musical performances, movement workshops, and popup petting zoos, and the program maintains decades-old traditions such as Find Chuckie and Friday Pie-Day.
Steve & Kate’s Camp is included as a benefit in Bright Horizons Back-Up Care. For Slip N Slide activities, campers are asked to bring a labeled swimsuit, towel, and water shoes or sandals to participate. Testimonials describe the camp as a place where children “blossom and discover a freedom of identity” and “find their thumbprint,” and note that “if kids ruled the world, it might look something like Steve and Kate’s Camp.” Additional media quotes mention that many children of people working at Pixar and Industrial Light & Magic attend, that the camp blends a traditional camp experience with a “modern, tech-savvy touch,” and that “working parents’ worries dissipate” with the camp’s model.
