About

Camp Sparkle is a free summer day camp where campers spend a week learning about cancer, participating in therapeutic activities, going on field trips, and taking part in a therapeutic arts activity for kids and teens. Activities at Camp Sparkle include Healing Gardens, painting, and ice skating. Sparkle Saturday brings the same camp focus throughout the year with a special therapeutic arts activity for kids and teens, along with a parent support group.

• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Summer day camp sessions in 2026 in Bellevue, Woodinville, Vancouver, Seattle, and Tacoma, with one 4-day session in Vancouver; Sparkle Saturdays held during the 2025–2026 school year on the first Saturday of each month (except January)

Eligibility for Camp Sparkle includes children and teens who have completed Kindergarten and older who have been impacted by cancer by having a loved one with cancer or post-treatment, having lost a loved one to cancer, or having a cancer diagnosis themselves. Campers are entering 1st–8th grade, and counselors are entering 9th grade and up. Sparkle Saturdays are open to any child impacted by cancer who is in Kindergarten and older. Programs and services are offered in-person throughout Washington state and virtually nationwide.

All activities are facilitated by licensed clinical social workers, and emotional support is provided by a licensed clinical social worker (MSW/LCSW). The leadership team includes Michaela Phillips, Director of Camp Sparkle and Family Programs; Morgan Weidner, Youth and Community Programs Manager; and Anna Gottlieb, who became the first Executive Director in 2001. Cancer Pathways officially opened the doors to its Seattle clubhouse in 2001 and has been in the community for over 20 years, serving more than 2,450 campers, with about 180 youth served each summer across 5 locations.

Camp Sparkle is a proud member of the Children’s Oncology Camping Association and Care Camps. Cancer Pathways describes a community that includes survivors, loved ones, parents, siblings, children, caregivers, and patients who face cancer every day. The mission of Cancer Pathways is to provide pathways of support, education, and community to anyone facing cancer, whether it is before, during, or after a cancer experience.
