• Schedule: Spring Class Session is a 6-week series with 60–90 minute classes per week, and the Winter Clinic Series runs in 3-week sessions with 1-hour classes per week.
• Price: Spring Class Session: $165 full fee, financial assistance always available, up to 100%. Winter Clinic Series: $55 full fee, financial assistance always available, up to 100%. 25% of every merchandise sale is donated back to the chapter.
The First Tee of Greater Seattle was formed in 2001 and became the 106th chapter of First Tee on December 20, 2002. Its mission states that it is developing character through the game of golf, and that all young people are welcome to participate. The mission also states that First Tee is a youth development organization that enables kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges, and that by integrating the game of golf with a life skills curriculum, it creates active learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience.
The program serves more than 2,000 young people annually at 15 different facilities in King, Snohomish and Skagit counties, and partners with more than 200 local elementary and middle schools to bring the game and its core values to more than 100,000 students during the school day. Thanks to community donors, the Winter Equipment Sale offers deals on quality equipment and merchandise, and every dollar spent goes toward youth programs at First Tee – Greater Seattle, with 25% of every merchandise sale donated back to the chapter. Thanks to Athletic Solutions, this Winter Equipment Sale is made possible, and thanks to founder Matt Davis, 5% of all PutterCup sales are donated to First Tee – Greater Seattle. The program notes that golf-based personal growth programs use a Life Skills Curriculum developed by experts in youth development, golf, and coaching, and that coaches integrate golf and character building activities into each lesson, with activities and life lessons becoming more involved as a child progresses. Paid and volunteer coach and volunteer positions are available, and all ages and experience levels are welcome.
