La Cocina Cooking Classes offers tamale making classes and mole making classes. Classes are usually 10–20 people and are held in the evenings and on weekends. Classes are held in English, with some Spanish used at times. Children are welcome to attend classes with a supervising adult, and a ticket is required if the child will be participating in the class.

Cooking classes at La Cocina are a fundraiser for 43 programs and services offered by El Centro de la Raza. Founded in 1972, El Centro de la Raza is a voice and a hub for the Latino/a community in Seattle and King County. El Centro de la Raza is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As an organization grounded in the Latino community of Washington State, its mission is to build the Beloved Community through unifying all racial and economic sectors; to organize, empower, and defend the basic human rights of vulnerable and marginalized populations; and to bring critical consciousness, justice, dignity, and equity to people around the world.
