About the provider

Mat Chess MMA was founded in 2011 by former schoolteacher and accomplished Brazilian jiu-jitsu Black Belt Andrew Perkins. The site says Andrew Perkins is also a Dave Ginsburg Black Belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the academy is IBJJF-certified, and it has more than 150 five-star reviews. Muay Thai Kickboxing classes are coached by Roy Starin, who has trained both Muay Thai and Dutch-style kickboxing for over 12 years. The site also says students regularly compete in local, national, and international tournaments and superfights.

All classes are described as beginner friendly. Fundamentals classes are said to be helpful for beginners. The site says students should come to class as often as they can and that classes are designed to make the most of a 90-minute to 2-hour time investment.
