Creative Coding states that it specializes in teaching coding to kids aged 7–13 and that this is the only thing it does. The organization describes itself as a mission-driven, family-owned company whose goal is to be the very best in the world at teaching young kids to learn how to code. It describes itself as a tiny, elite group of Seattle teachers that is still local, still a small company, and focused on quality and mission over profits and growth. They state that they offer online 1-on-1 or “family sized” tutoring classes by request, customized to a child’s age and abilities, and that coding in Scratch can transfer to other languages such as Java and Python using the same method. They require cameras on for Zoom classes and highlight a friendly, safe environment for all genders.

Creative Coding reports that it first offered summer camps in June 2013 and that it has been teaching coding to kids aged 7–13 for 11 years, both online and in person. Pre-Covid, the organization states it served over 40 public and private schools around Seattle with after-school classes and summer camps, and in 2023 it ramped back up with 20+ local Seattle schools. They state that in response to the COVID emergency school lockdown in March 2020, they instantly transformed programs and transitioned both classes and camps online without missing a single day of class, and that they had already used Zoom to teach coding two years prior to the pandemic with a class of Hawaiian home schooled kids. The leadership team includes Founder Eric Fredrickson, who is referred to as “Founder Dad” in the description of The Creative Coding Method.

Parent testimonials shared by Creative Coding include: “My son couldn't stop talking about everything he'd learned... he had so much fun!” from Maria in Seattle; “My son says this is the best summer camp he's ever taken, and we've taken a lot,” from Sarah S in Seattle; and “This class is amazing. It's incredible what these kids are learning, and they're having fun! That's the key!” from Bill K in Seattle.
