Seattle Drum School of Music offers Summer Band Camps, weekly one-on-one private lessons, weekly hour-long ensemble classes, workshops, and one on one online music production tools.   • Rock Band Class for Youth in Lake City — Ages 10-16 · 6:00-7:00 pm · Ability to independently play instrument, to learn songs as a group.
  • African Drum & Percussion Class — Kids 6-7 pm; 16+ 7-8 pm · Tuesdays, 6:00-8:00 pm · $40–$130 · Youth + adult class in Georgetown. Tuition: $130/month or drop in for one session $40.
  • Jazz Combo / Jazz Ensemble Class — Ages 16+ · Mondays 5:00-6:00 pm · Proficiency on instrument required (at least two years experience, ability to learn songs independently).
  • Classic Rock Band Class — Adults (ages 18+) · Saturdays 1:00-2:00 pm · $122–$143 per month · For adults in Georgetown; minimum of 2 years experience on instrument.
  • Blues Jam Band Class — Ages 15-adult; for ages 16-Adult · $122–$143 per month · In Georgetown; minimum of 2 years experience on instrument.
  • One on One Online Music Production Tools — Online collaborative sessions or in-person at Lake City and Georgetown schools.

About the provider

The school is family owned since 1986 and has operated out of the Lake City building in North Seattle since 2016. Steve Smith and Kristy Smith are listed as owners, instructors, and leaders. The school says it is a fun and inspiring place for musical exploration and growth, with a welcoming atmosphere that celebrates students as human beings and fellow artists. It says it believes in acceptance and inclusion and, 'We choose kindness.' Community members are invited to attend Summer Band Camps Friday performances, and The LAB@1010 hosts student showcases, 2nd Sundays at 3 for youth, and a variety of community events.

Summer Band Camps require a $250 non-refundable deposit. The remaining balance is due 2 weeks prior to the first day of camp. Campers may transfer a reserved spot to a different camp date up to one month before camp starts; transfer is allowed one time. If canceled with less than one month notice, the deposit can be transferred to another camp date if space allows.
