Seattle Gymnastics Academy has been a member of the Seattle community since 1981 and states that it has been building strength, skill and confidence in the Seattle community for over 40 years. Its mission is to provide all ages, skill levels and abilities with positive, safe and progressive quality gymnastics instruction and to provide the physical and mental benefits of the sport of gymnastics for ages preschoolers to adults. SGA is a 100% employee-owned company and offers drop-in Play events that are 100% commitment-free, with SGA members saving up to 50% on select Play programs, receiving early access to Camp enrollment plus a discounted rate, and additional member benefits.
All coaches are described as highly trained and qualified, with Safe Sport, CPR and Head’s Up certifications, and they participate in continuous education to stay current in progressive coaching techniques. Coaches regularly track and update gymnast skill charts so families can see what each gymnast has achieved and what goal they are working toward next. SGA supports and encourages families to observe their gymnast’s class in person or remotely through a secure partnership with WatchMeGrow.
SGA facilities include all women’s and men’s Olympic apparatus and events, trampolines, foam pits, safety and teaching-aid equipment, and preschool-sized equipment. The organization states that it focuses on building strength, skill and character to foster positive relationships, promote a positive environment and emphasize turning mistakes into steps for success. SGA notes that it has five locations across the Seattle metro area with expansive square footage, a clean and safe environment, and top-of-the-line equipment.
One Columbia City parent, Jack, describes the facility as clean and well maintained, with helpful and friendly front desk staff who are quick to share important information, and notes that the team coaches truly care about the kids and that kids are able to practice, learn and train in a safe environment. A Ballard parent, Jane, describes the teachers and staff as friendly, polite, professional and great with kids, and explains that classes start in a warm-up area and then rotate through different skill areas such as beam and uneven bars, with a layout that allows for constant rotation and variety in the order skills are practiced.
