About

Summer Fun! is a performing and visual arts camp that offers daily classes in Drama, Music, Art, and Dance. Over the course of the session, campers take part in an original musical performance that grows out of these daily classes. Summer Fun! is a non-profit educational organization that was founded as part of a children’s music demonstration group for teachers working toward their Kodaly Music certification and rapidly evolved to include dance, theater, and art.

• Ages: 7–13 years old
• Schedule: July 13th–July 31st, 2026 (three weeks)

Summer Fun! is a day camp for kids who are rising 2nd to 8th graders. All of the instructors are certified teaching artists. The camp’s mission is to provide a magical camp experience that enriches the lives of children through the visual and performing arts, using carefully selected, skill-building activities and focusing on the arts as a process as well as a product. Daily classes in Drama, Music, Art, and Dance culminate in an original musical performance that emphasizes both quality art and technique.

Summer Fun! was founded by Kelly Foster-Griffin and Tom Freeman in 1993 and has been going strong in Seattle for over 30 years. The leadership team includes founders Kelly Foster-Griffin and Tom Freeman, along with Lucinda Dalrymple (Artistic Director, Music) and Ann Selznick (Administrative Director). S*FAB, the Summer Fun Alumni Bunch, is a dedicated group of former campers who are crucial to ensuring that Summer Fun! runs smoothly.

Parents describe Summer Fun! as a place where their children are excited to go to camp each day and come home tired, happy, and full of song. One parent notes that Summer Fun! encourages imagination, honors each individual’s creativity, and presents a production at the end of the three-week camp with humor, dance, puppets, costumes, and music. Another parent shares that the staff are inspired teachers and wonderful artists and calls Summer Fun! a unique and joyful environment for kids. Other parents report planning their summers around “our favorite camp” and describe counselors as “the best,” with a concluding performance that is “a blast,” and one parent notes that their daughter was eager to get up and get ready each morning to attend.
