The Snohomish Aquatic Center has been operating since its grand opening in January 2014. The center is owned and operated by the Snohomish School District and serves as the home pool for local swim teams from Glacier Peak High School and Snohomish High School, as well as local club teams and a U.S. Master’s Swim team, and it provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups. The district’s mission is to create an educational community that ignites a passion for learning where every student is known and empowered. Leadership connected to the center and district includes Aquatic Center Supervisor Chris Bensen, Aquatics Manager Juleah Duffield, Facility Manager Michael Jones, Guest Service Manager Mary McCall, Snohomish School District Communications Manager Ashley Choquette, Civil Rights Coordinator and Title IX Coordinator Darryl Pernat, Student ADA and Section 504 Coordinator Wendy McCulloch, Applicant and Employee ADA Coordinator Shantel Strandt, and Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying Coordinator Jennifer Harlan. One community member described the facility by saying, “Every member of our community will benefit from this wonderful facility. It's an aquatic facility - not a swimming pool. The possibilities this offers the kids and adults in our district and our community are tremendous.”
