The 90+ Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Its mission is to maximize its impact on the lives of its players, families, and community by eliminating barriers to participation and focusing resources on programs and activities for the next generation. The organization states that it is committed to investing in each child off the field and uses soccer to support this goal, with an unwavering focus on people development and character development, alongside player development.

The program describes itself as recreational and developmental, with a Recreational program that focuses on community, character values, friendships, and a passion for the game through friendly competition, and a Developmental program managed by mentor coaches and geared toward the complete development of the player. It offers free camps, clinics, and after school programming funded through its efforts to create equity among marginalized communities, and it uses a financial sliding scale for soccer costs based on family income. The 90+ Project states that it accepts and seeks to represent all individuals and communities and will never turn anyone away based on race, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion, or socio-economic status.

The organization believes that soccer is a powerful tool for promoting the physical, mental, and emotional development, well-being, and recreation of young people, and that when soccer becomes competitive it should remain developmental. It describes soccer as more than a game, emphasizing community, inclusion, character, leadership, mental wellness, and shared stories through the sport. The name “90+ Project” reflects the 90 minutes of a soccer match as a story, the “+” as added time to reclaim lost moments, and “Project” as a commitment to continuous, collaborative growth.
