About

Camp Code for Girls is a free week-long program where campers take part in computer programming and coding. During the session, campers gain hands-on experience as they build mobile apps.

• Ages: 12–15 years old
• Schedule: Week-long sessions, Monday–Friday, 9 AM to 3 PM
• Price: Camp Code for Girls is a free week-long program. Cost: FREE. Camp Code is valued at over $500 per camper. Fast Enterprises covers the full cost of camp. In an effort to reduce no-shows, certain locations require a $25 registration fee payable to the hosting organization, and the fee can be waived in cases of financial hardship.

Camp Code for Girls makes computer programming fun and accessible for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade girls and welcomes all campers who identify as girls or gender non-conforming. The program introduces campers to opportunities in tech from programming to engineering to cybersecurity and more, and campers learn how to solve real-world problems, build mobile apps, and make a positive impact. Instructors and guest speakers are all accomplished tech professionals.

Camp Code for Girls states that it strives to help campers see themselves as creators, not just consumers, of technology, and notes that girls can build confidence, make friends, develop skills for the future, and explore opportunities that programming can unlock. Alumni can volunteer as instructor assistants in future camps and can apply for a college scholarship for those pursuing degrees in technology fields.

FAST is proud to partner with the Girl Scouts Louisiana East to offer Camp Code in Gonzales, with the Girl Scouts of Colorado to offer Camp Code in Denver, and with Eastern Washington University to offer Camp Code in Spokane.

One camper shared, “I loved it sooooo much and it was the highlight of my summer. I enjoyed learning how to code and making friends with people I wouldn’t normally meet. Thank you for this amazing experience. I am so glad that I got to be a part of Camp Code for Girls 2024. Everyone was so kind and easy to work with, it was an exceptional experience.” A parent reported that their child “really enjoyed making friends in a diverse space” and felt “energy and enthusiasm from the instructors,” and said their daughter’s “sense of wonder has been restored” because “coding isn’t scary anymore” and that she went from not wanting to go to crying at the end of the last day because she did not want camp to be over.
