Spokane Art School Classes
Spokane Art School, 503 E 2nd Ave, Suite B, Spokane, WA 99202
About
Spokane Art School Classes include art classes held at the school, as well as off-site classes through programs and events. The program also offers Art Parties, community events, and a gallery exhibition program with First Friday Art Gallery Receptions.
• Schedule: Winter hours run October through December, Tuesday–Friday from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.–4 p.m., with closures on Sunday and Monday; regular hours are Monday–Friday from 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and the school is open until 8 p.m. for First Friday Art Gallery Receptions, which take place monthly from 5–8 p.m. on the first Friday of the month.
The non-profit Spokane Art School was established in 1968. Its mission is to provide quality art education taught by professional artists and to remove barriers, both financial and otherwise, to hands-on arts education. Off-site classes are offered through the ArtReach program, Crosswalk Youth Shelter, Art Parties, and community events. Washington State law (ESSB 5814) requires that certain services be taxed when sold, and art classes fall under this law, so sales tax is charged on all in-person and online classes. Preregistration is required for all classes, instructors cannot take payments, and online registration closes 48 hours before a class begins. Classes with fewer than three registrations are cancelled and the registration fee is refunded, and refunds are only issued if Spokane Art School cancels a class. Refunds or class credit are not issued for missed classes, and unless otherwise noted, classes are for adults 18 years of age and older. The school maintains an active gallery exhibition program that provides educational programming for viewers, as well as exposure and financial support for local artists and instructors. The gallery artist schedule includes a June Pride Exhibition featuring Tif Ander Patterson, Rose Honey, Missy Narrance, Rook Haug, and Matt Schwenk; a Spokane Art School Student and Faculty Show in July on the second Friday, July 10; Tom Quinn in August; Spokane Watercolor Society in September; E.L. Stewart in October; a Yuletide Holiday Marketplace on November 6–7; and an Ornament and Small Works Show from November 13–December 23.
