Ted Brown Music was founded in 1931, when Ted Brown opened the first store in downtown Tacoma, Washington. The company has been family owned for more than 90 years, and it founded the Ted Brown Music Outreach program in 2007. Since then, it has given away more than 1,600 instruments to students whose families otherwise could not afford them. Ted Brown Music’s mission is to make more music makers, and it was named Music Inc.’s Retailer of the Year.
