The camp blends Jewish tradition and culture with nature and activity as the foundation of the camp experience, and all aspects of camp life are enriched by Jewish values, traditions, and ruach (spirit).

• Ages: 8–18 years old

Camp Solomon Schechter Summer Camp has a 70+ year tradition of fun, friendship, and Jewish education in the Pacific Northwest. Its mission is to offer a fully immersive, welcoming, and spiritual Jewish environment where campers are encouraged to try new things, make smart choices, and grow as individuals. The program includes summer and year-round programming dedicated to improving campers’ social skills, helping them deepen their Jewish identities, and discovering new talents and abilities. The camp emphasizes integrity, derech eretz (respect), and tikkun olam (repairing the world), and celebrates Jewish life through Shabbat (Sabbath), Kashrut (Jewish dietary laws), T’filah (prayer), Shira (singing), and Zionism (love for Israel). Camp Solomon Schechter is accredited by the American Camp Association and is a member of the Association of Independent Jewish Camps, with a stated goal of being the preeminent independent Jewish camp on the West Coast.

CSS is a welcoming summer home for Jews of Conservative, Reconstructionist, Renewal, Reform, traditional, and unaffiliated backgrounds. It is described as an open place for children to explore Jewish texts, spirituality, rituals, and history so they may form their own unique Jewish identities. The camp states that it takes pride in its diversity and celebrates the mosaic of identities and backgrounds that make up its community.
