About

Columbia Dance offers classical ballet training along with a variety of other dance forms. Students take part in major productions such as a full length Nutcracker, the Choreographer’s Showcase, and the Columbia Dance Spring Showcase, which features students, guest choreographers, and works by faculty. Dancers work with professional dance instructors who function as a cohesive faculty and participate in large productions with public audiences, interacting with choreographers and teachers, stage crew, volunteers, and fellow dancers.

• Schedule: Receptionist hours September–June are Monday–Friday 3:30–6:30pm and Saturday 9:00am–12:00pm

Columbia Dance’s mission is to present dance as a life-enhancing experience for students and the community by setting high artistic standards in classical ballet education and performance, while creating a positive, nurturing, and challenging environment where dance appreciation thrives. Columbia Dance was a member of Regional Dance America/Pacific Region from 1997–2018 and, starting in 2019, is a member of The Ballet Alliance. The organization states “Training dancers, Shaping people,” and notes that company alumni have gone on to careers in professional dance companies as well as careers as teachers, lawyers, doctors, and community leaders. Columbia Dance values inclusiveness, embracing and instructing children of all ages, genders, and body types as valuable members of their community, and emphasizes self-discipline, self-confidence, respect, wellness, and teamwork in its studios. Through partnerships with area corporations, businesses, schools, private enterprise, and other community arts organizations, Columbia Dance is involved in promotion of the arts in the community.
