Dance Church

Dance Church is a dance program where participants spend the session dancing. Teachers lead classes from the center of the space, and the group changes its facing often during class. Participants move through various actions and coordinations without learning set choreography, sometimes moving around the space, going down to the floor, and briefly holding hands, with the option to modify movements to be bigger, smaller, faster, or slower as needed.

Dance Church offers classes in cities across the country. Music in class is loud, with an upbeat and energetic tempo, and talking is not allowed, but singing is encouraged. Recommended items for class include clothing that is comfortable for moving and sweating, a water bottle, and optional face mask and earplugs, with earplugs available upon request; classes are typically taken barefoot or in socks, and clean studio sneakers are allowed when there is a personal need, with a request to be mindful.
