The instructors work professionally in various aspects of their field and bring their expertise and knowledge into the classroom.
The program states that it builds strong technique, strong character, and strong kids, and that its programs go beyond steps and notes to develop leaders. Groove Nation is built on three pillars: excellence in training, a unified and respectful community, and character-driven leadership development. The program states that every class is designed to challenge students, build confidence, and help them become their best selves on and off the stage. Groove Nation states that it values strong work ethics, a unified community, and commitment to developing one’s craft, and that it was founded out of Beau and Rose’s passion to touch the lives of kids in a transformative way and put them on a path for success. The program uses dance as a vehicle to teach leadership and character development and to give kids a second home where they can feel “safe.”
Groove Nation is described as the most awarded dance program in Vancouver, WA, with the tagline “WHERE EXCELLENCE MEETS COMMUNITY.” Beau has received multiple awards, including the “Most Accomplished & under 40” award by the Vancouver Business Journal and “Distinguished Alumni” by Fort Vancouver High School.
Groove Nation has participated in projects with Vancouver Parks & Recreation, the Vancouver School District, The Luepke Center, Washington State PTA, Southwest Washington Childcare Consortium, Red Cross, Share House, Fort Vancouver Historical Trust, Festival of Trees, and the Portland Rose Festival. Groove Nation welcomes students from Vancouver, Ridgefield, Camas, Washougal, and Portland, Oregon, and, together with its non-profit program New Groove, has served tens of thousands of kids in the community. New Groove is a 501c3 non-profit that focuses on inspiring and equipping ordinary kids to become tomorrow’s community leaders by tapping into kids’ passion for the arts, providing leadership training, cultivating a safe environment for growth, and showing kids how to use their gift of dance to impact the world around them.
Parent and student testimonials describe Groove Nation as welcoming and supportive, with many class options and a strong sense of family and community. Parents and students report that dancers are encouraged and loved in positive, respectful ways, that the studio feels like a second family, and that students are learning excellence in dance and character, good sportsmanship, and important character-building traits.
