About
S.P.O.R.T. Gymnastics Summer Classes include gymnastics and tumbling along with obstacle courses, running, jumping, kicking, rolling, throwing, catching, and games. Children also have unstructured play time and can use a rope swing, a 40 foot long tumble track, bars to swing on, a rock wall to climb, soft mats, balls, jump ropes, and hula hoops. Additional activities connected with the program include arts and crafts, pizza, and a golf tournament.
• Ages: 2–12 years old
• Schedule: Summer session runs from the week of July 6 through August 13, with one description also listing July 7 through August 14; class options vary by level and run Monday–Thursday in 45–55 minute blocks, and Parent’s Night Out runs from 6:00pm–9:00pm on selected Fridays in October, December, February, and March.
• Price: Summer tuition for most programs ranges from $115 for one class per week to $225 for two classes per week, with some Little Champs options at $255 for two classes per week; a 4th of July Special discounts two classes per week from $225 to $170 and allows a third class per week to be added for $55; Parent’s Night Out costs $40 for the first child and $35 for each additional sibling, and there is no summer registration fee or sibling discount.
The program’s SPORTS “R” SIZE curriculum was developed by Sue Harris, who has a Masters in Early Childhood Education from the University of Oregon. The stated mission is to offer a variety of activities and challenges that promote maximum learning and a healthy lifestyle, to provide a fun and positive environment, to promote creativity and fitness while inspiring students to achieve their goals, to develop self-confidence by instilling the values of sportsmanship, self-discipline, respect and accountability, and to enrich the lives of students and the community through the challenge of going beyond self-created limits. S.P.O.R.T. Gymnastics describes itself as “The Leader in Children’s Fitness” and “The Leader in Children’s Fitness and Sport Development,” and its competitive team is an 18-time Xcel State Champion.
The organization offers a scholarship fund and Tuition Assistance Form for children who are unable to participate in gymnastics due to financial hardship, and it hosts the S.P.O.R.T. Classic Golf Tournament to support local athletes with a game of golf, dinner, and auction items. Parent’s Night Out events for ages 4–10 include games, arts and crafts, gymnastics, pizza, and other activities. Play/Family Gym offers unstructured play time with gymnastics equipment, balls, hoops, mats, tunnels, and similar items.
