About
Vikings Junior Football & Cheer offers tackle football, flag football, and cheerleading, along with football-specific passing, receiving, and kicking drills. The program includes a camp at the end of July and a regular season with organized practice schedules for both football players and cheerleaders.
• Ages: 7–14 years old
• Schedule: Football activities include a public sports clinic on July 18 from 5pm–7pm, an IHS pre-season football camp July 30–August 1 from 5:00pm–7:00pm, two weeks of pre-season practice in early August running five days per week for two hours per day, then three days per week for two hours per day from August 26 through October; the cheer season begins August 11 with practices Monday through Thursday evenings for the first two weeks and then twice a week through the first week in November, with game days every Saturday from September through the second week in November; the expected 2025 game season runs from September 6 through late October for the regular season, with quarter finals at the beginning of November and semi finals and finals in mid-November.
Vikings Junior Football & Cheer is a comprehensive youth program based in Kenmore, Washington, dedicated to providing tackle football, flag football, and cheerleading to individuals aged 7 to 14 who reside within the Inglemoor High School boundaries. The organization operates under the auspices of the Greater Eastside Junior Football Association (GEJFA.org), which includes programs such as Eastlake, Skyline, Liberty, Bellevue, Woodinville, Bothell, North Creek, Cedarcrest, and Issaquah. The program maintains a collaborative relationship with the coaching staff and booster club of Inglemoor High School and aligns with them to support a transition into the high school football program.
Within the league, a mandated substitution rule is in place to provide equitable playtimes for all participants, and beginner-level teams such as Rookies and Cubs have coaches positioned on the field to give direct guidance. The club is described as highly organized and structured, supported by experienced and qualified coaches, dedicated board members, and a community of families who consistently return each year. The program makes annual investments in certified helmets and the upkeep of jerseys, game pants, and shoulder pads, and notes that for the regular season parents provide football cleats and a mouth guard while the program provides the rest of the football gear.
For the camp at the end of July, athletes are asked to bring shorts, a T-shirt, cleats if available, plenty of water in a water bottle, and a positive attitude to work hard and learn for two hours each day. For the regular season, once gear is handed out, families are instructed to keep practice pants, practice jerseys, helmets, and shoulder pads cleaned and sanitized daily, and to ensure athletes bring plenty of water, a water bottle, football cleats, and a mouth guard, along with what the program describes as a winning attitude because football is hard and every play and every player counts.
The IHS pre-season football camp is moved to the brand-new football field at Northshore Middle School due to construction at Inglemoor High School. Athletes already registered for fall tackle football are automatically enrolled in the IHS pre-season football camp, while others who want to participate must sign a waiver on the program’s website.
For cheer, families are informed that refunds will not be given once cheer registration closes on May 30, 2025. Cheerleaders agree to attend a mandatory uniform fitting on Sunday afternoon, June 1, 2025, and the program states that if a cheerleader cannot attend this uniform fitting, they will be unable to cheer for the season.
