• Ages: 6 weeks–12 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday–Friday, 6:00 am–5:30 pm; closed Saturday–Sunday and on holidays and occasional staff in-service days
Kids' Safari Learning Center was founded on June 6, 2005, by the late Linda Vial. In 2007, three additional classrooms were added for the after-school program and Camp Safari. In 2008, the center partnered with Monona Grove School District to offer 4K programming and wrap around care and began running a 3K part-day program. The center enrolled in the NAC accreditation self-study program in 2010, achieved NAC accreditation and a 5-Star YoungStar rating in 2013, and remained open through much of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, closing for two weeks in March. COVID-19 restrictions were lifted in 2021 and enrollment increased back to full capacity. On January 14, 2022, the business was sold to Michael Thomas, who has been operating the Caring Center of Verona.
The building has thirteen large classrooms broken down by age group, each with a large panel of windows and doors leading to outside play areas. It includes an onsite kitchen where breakfast, lunch, and snack are cooked by a nutrition manager, a cafeteria for preschool and school-aged children, a gym for large motor play, and a library for special sessions. Both the gym and library are staffed for the academic school year from September through June. The building has a new, state-of-the-art security system that limits access to authorized individuals. The facility is sanitized throughout the day and deep cleaned each night by a professional cleaning crew.
Kids' Safari Learning Center serves children in the community and continues its partnership with Monona Grove School District to offer 4K programming in house and wrap around care. The program states that its primary mission is to provide superior care for children in the community, with children nurtured in a safe and loving environment and learning experiences that support each child's healthy growth in all developmental domains.
Eighty percent of the teaching staff have an associate degree in Early Care and Education or are currently enrolled in school. The center employs a part-time nurse, and staff participate in annual continuing education opportunities. The program is family owned and operated.
