House In The Wood

House In The Wood is a program of Northwestern Settlement that offers Summer Camp, Outdoor Education, and Leader In Training programs. The program takes place in a safe and natural environment that is removed from urban life and introduces adult role models who counsel and exemplify values of growth and responsibility. It creates a positive atmosphere in which underserved youth can be themselves and has the ultimate goal of disrupting generational poverty.

Founded in 1910, House In The Wood is a long-standing program of Northwestern Settlement. According to its mission statement, the program focuses on encouraging campers to try new experiences, grow as individuals, and hone skills they will use throughout their lives, with the aim of creating leaders who return to their communities.
