The NEW in NEW Zoo & Adventure Park stands for Northeastern Wisconsin. The Neil Anderson Canopy Tour takes participants on a treetop walk from the Adventure Park to the zoo, going through trees and crossing over animal habitats. The Adventure Park offers experiences for both kids and adults, including ziplines, a ropes course, a climbing wall, and a Kids Kourse. The NEW Zoo & Adventure Park and the surrounding Reforestation Camp together make up a 1,560-acre recreational area that serves over half a million visitors every year, with miles of hiking, biking, horseback riding, and other nature trails, plus snowshoe and cross-country ski trails in winter.

The mission of NEW Zoo & Adventure Park is to connect the community with wildlife and nature through engaging, interactive experiences. The organization is accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) and in 2021 received the AZA’s Quarter Century Award for 25 years of continuous accreditation. It is owned and operated by Wisconsin’s Brown County and is overseen by the County’s Education & Recreation Committee, along with the Brown County Golf Course, Brown County Libraries, Neville Public Museum, and Brown County Parks Department. It is one of the few AZA-accredited zoos in the United States that does not receive local or regional tax support for its operating budget and is fully self-funded, and it is open 365 days a year.
