About

Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha Youth & Teen Programs includes activities such as Healthy Habits (Mind), Daily Challenges (Body), Social Recreation (Soul), SMART Girls, Passport to Manhood, and Power Hour: Making Minutes Count. The program also offers BE GREAT: Graduate, along with meal service through the Summer Food Service Program and the Child and Adult Care Food Program. The Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha’s Healthy Lifestyles program is called Triple Play: A Game Plan for the Mind, Body and Soul, which emphasizes good nutrition, regular physical activity and improving overall well-being.

• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Building and program options are available Monday–Friday during the school year and summer, with morning through evening hours

Healthy Habits (Mind) is for ages 6 to 15. Power Hour: Making Minutes Count serves Club members ages 6–18 by providing homework help, tutoring and high-yield learning activities. The program “BE GREAT: Graduate” serves teen Club members who are at-risk of dropping out of school and not graduating.

On average, over 500 youth participate daily at the Club in educational and sports programming. With participation in the food program, the Club provides a full meal that consists of a meat or meat alternative, two fruits and/or vegetables, a grain and milk. Over 20,000 meals are served through the Summer Food Service Program and Child and Adult Care Food Program annually.

Since 2008, when the youth employment program was started, there has been a 72% reduction in juvenile crime in Kenosha during summer months. In a Harris Interactive survey, 57% of Boys & Girls Club alumni said the Club “saved my life.” Members who attend the Club two or more times a week skip fewer days of school, feel more connected to school and have greater post-secondary aspirations. Among Club members, 93% expect to graduate and 8 in 10 apply to college, and high school-age Club members report higher levels of abstention from high-risk behaviors such as smoking, drinking alcohol and marijuana use than their non-Club counterparts.
