About

Terri's Treehouse offers indoor play, hands on learning outdoors, outside time, circle time, music and movement, daily reading of stories, gardening, and garden stewardship. Classrooms are organized into learning centers such as a housekeeping area, reading center, sensory table, block area, manipulative area, and a separate quiet room, and they include materials like large soft blocks, mats, musical instruments, and other sensory-focused materials that use touch, light, and sound or music.

• Schedule: A daily schedule is posted in each classroom that includes meals and snacks, center play, outside time, daily activities, circle time, and rest time.

Terri's Treehouse has over 30 years of established reputation serving its community. The program follows a NAEYC guided, adaptive curriculum within a natural learning framework and an interactive atmosphere that offers a culturally-responsive rooted foundation for individuals and the intergenerational community. It is 5 Star Rated through YoungStar and is NAEYC Accredited #291769. Teachers are educated and well qualified, continue their education, and are expected to understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development and to communicate with both children and adults; the Lead Teacher develops cohesive relationships with students, families, and the teaching team, coordinates the curriculum, and manages day-to-day classroom operations. The program includes a nature-focused, play-based, developmentally appropriate learning environment with a focus on outdoor learning and garden stewardship, and it weaves a quality, inclusion, and equity framework into the curriculum through intentional learning while also engaging in advocacy for early childhood legislation and access to affordable quality early education and care for all Wisconsin children. One parent, Betty Rickleff, describes enrolling two daughters at Terri’s Treehouse and shares that her children are excited every morning to go to school there; former teacher and parent Miss Danyel Brooker describes working there as feeling more like being with family; and parent Krista Karow states that Terri’s Treehouse teachers loved her children like their own and taught them to garden, appreciate the outdoors, and have compassion.
