About
Junior Naturalist Summer Camp takes place at the Prairie Learning Center, where campers spend time in native prairie, freshwater marsh, and oak savanna habitats on the rolling hills of glacial drumlins. The program uses features such as two pollinator gardens, a sensory garden, a natural play area, prairie seed beds, a monarch waystation, and a self-guided interpretive trail as part of its outdoor and environmental education experiences.
The camp is part of the Lussier Family Heritage Center’s outdoor and environmental education programs for persons of all ages and ability levels. The center’s mission states that it strives to connect all people with the outdoors, based on the view that parks and open spaces are vital to mental and physical well-being. The leadership team connected with these programs includes Angela Rivera (Education Coordinator), Amy Cox (Inclusion Specialist), Rachael Gosda (Education Specialist), Susan Sandford (Strategic Engagement Coordinator), and Grace Coleman (Youth Conservation Coordinator).
