Camp Wakonda offers Bible-centered teaching with an inter-denominational emphasis, along with one-to-one mentoring with campers. The program focuses on establishing good habits of Christian living, teaching kids to serve one another, and using a variety of recreational activities in ways that foster spiritual growth. Campers take part in activities that develop the ability to relate positively to others and to face and work out life’s problems, and all campers and staff receive a free Camp Wakonda t-shirt at check in.
Camp Wakonda operates as an outdoor Christian Education ministry. Its stated purpose is to provide a time of fun, friendships, and faith, and to connect people to Jesus and equip them to be His disciples. Camp Wakonda is owned and operated by The Connecting Church – Milton Seventh Day Baptist, and the camp site is also available for rental. Forty percent of proceeds from Wakonda Merch sold at their Printify store go toward supporting Camp Wakonda. The leadership team includes Brittany Kersten (Office Admin), Pastor Nate Crandall (Lead Pastor), Pastor Liz Green (Associate Pastor), Pastor John Pethtel (Operations Pastor), and Pastor Nick Kersten (Elected Elder).
