Zoo Classes & Camps includes zoo classes, camps, school programs, and interactive field trips that focus on animals and conservation. Children take part in activities such as drama, music, puppetry, rhino-themed crafts, a walk to the Ladish Co. Foundation Rhino Care Center, and a visit with the Zoo’s two Eastern black rhinos, Kianga and Zuri. Kohl’s Wild Theater offers educational and interactive performances that use drama, music, and puppetry to make wildlife conservation come alive for participants and audiences.

Classes and camps are developed in accordance with academic and environmental education standards. Some classes include a live animal component and give children chances to interact with and observe real-life animal biofacts. Kohl’s Wild Theater also brings live, educational, family-friendly shows to schools, libraries, and community events within a 30-mile radius of the Zoo. The Zoological Society of Milwaukee partners with the Milwaukee County Zoo to create and host special events throughout the year for members, zoo visitors, and the community. The Zoological Society of Milwaukee states that it works to conserve wildlife and the environment, educate the community through innovative programs, and support the Milwaukee County Zoo, and its fundraising events bring in more than $1 million each year to support this mission.
