Monroe Arts Center Youth Art Classes take place in a setting that offers classes in visual and performing arts. For over four decades, the Monroe Arts Center has provided live, professional, visual and performing arts experiences for the citizens of Monroe and Green County, with a 48-year track record and broad support from across the community. The organization states a mission to nurture a diverse community by providing opportunities to experience arts, encourage creative development, and ensure preservation and accessibility of its historic facilities. It is described as a regional asset serving almost 6,000 students, artists, and patrons yearly and serving the citizens of Monroe and Green County. The building used for the program is a former Methodist church designed in Gothic Revival style by architect Edward Townsend Mix, featuring a dramatic rose window on the south façade composed of tear-shaped stained-glass panels, along with decorative brickwork and an angled corner tower that are hallmarks of his work. The Monroe Arts Center maintains a full-time staff of three and two part-time staff, along with hundreds of volunteers.
