Caterpillar College, 8411 Old Green Bay Rd, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158
About
Caterpillar College includes activities such as exclusive water equipment, remarkable field trips, and experimental walking on eggs. The program also has students transition between different specialty rooms for art, science, and play throughout the day, and repeats concepts in both group and one-on-one settings.
• Ages: 3–12 years old
• Price: Families who co-op for at least two sessions per month can also receive a small tuition discount.
The Caterpillar College has a long tradition of preparing children to be successful in school and in life, and its program provides a cobblestone trail for children to transition from a protected toddler at home to a confident independent leader in school. The program is a private school that is not mandated by the state to use a play-based curriculum like preschools that accept state funds or vouchers. It is structured and disciplined, but also includes fun, and uses every teachable moment, whether academic, social, physical, emotional, or artistic. Parents and other family members can assist, or co-op, at the school, and grandparents are highly valued for their cross-generational perspectives. Families who co-op for at least two sessions per month can receive a small tuition discount, and there are two parent teacher conferences each year that evaluate six developmental areas: work habits, social/emotional, language, music and art, physical, and intellectual.
Summer camp at Caterpillar College continues to review and expand upon age appropriate academics over the summer months, and includes exclusive water equipment, remarkable field trips, and extraordinary experiences. The campus has play equipment chosen to develop large motor skills like climbing, skipping, throwing, and running, and the classrooms are spacious with abundant natural light and large open areas for children to play. A curbside pickup option is available in which staff escort children to and from a designated drop off area at the curb, and families may arrange to have a staff member escort a child while other children remain in the vehicle. The teachers at Caterpillar College are described as patient and exceptional.
