About
Riveredge Nature Center Programs include Summer Camp, Winter Camp, homeschool programs, field trips, scout group experiences, and Scouting Group and Family Programs. The programs also include classes, educational family events, Maple Sugarin’ Events such as a festival and pancake breakfast, the FROTHY FORAGE Beverage Fest, Bird Banding, and a Student Research Symposium. Families can hike 10 miles of trails, learn about sturgeon conservation, and reserve an All-Terrain Outdoor Wheelchair.

• Schedule: Phones are staffed Monday–Friday from 8:30am–4:30pm and Saturdays from 9:00am–4:00pm; the Visitor Center and Nature Store are open Monday–Friday from 8:30am–4:30pm and Saturdays from 9:00am–4:00pm; buildings are closed on Sunday.
Riveredge Nature Center includes educational buildings such as Connie’s Classroom, the River Outpost, Sugarbush House, a Barn, and a Visitor Center, along with 10 miles of trails through forests, prairies, ponds, and Milwaukee River frontage within 485 acres of prairies, forests, wetlands, ponds, and river banks. The mission of Riveredge Nature Center Programs is to support conservation through education that awakens curiosity, engages the body, and explores connections to nature for all people. Riveredge has served the community since 1968 as the first independent nature center in southeastern Wisconsin and has been a regional destination for ecology research and documentation for more than 50 years.
The organization welcomes people from across the region for field trips, scout group experiences, summer camps, homeschool programs, classes, and educational family events. It works to restore native ecosystems, contributes to the conservation of rare and threatened species, and continues conservation work with volunteers and expert staff. Over 20,000 young lake sturgeon are raised and released through efforts at Riveredge in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and young lake sturgeon are raised and released through sturgeon conservation efforts at Riveredge.
Over 2,000 member households take part in benefits each year. Riveredge Nature Center does not allow pets, and ADA-qualifying service animals are always welcome. Service animals must be on a leash, stay on the trails, and be under the control of their owner or handler at all times, except when being off-leash is necessary to perform tasks. An All-Terrain Wheelchair is available by reservation.
