Riveredge Nature Center Programs are part of an organization that has served the community since 1968 and is described as the region’s oldest independent nature center with more than 50 years as a regional destination for ecology research and documentation. The mission of Riveredge Nature Center is to support conservation through education that awakens curiosity, engages the body, and explores connections to nature for all people. The organization states that more than 2,000 member households take part in benefits each year and that over 20,000 young lake sturgeon have been raised and released through efforts at Riveredge in partnership with the Wisconsin DNR. Riveredge reports that it actively works to restore native ecosystems, contributes to the conservation of rare and threatened species, and builds on a long history of conservation work with volunteers and expert staff, and that it continues to build connections with partners and communities to be active, engaged stewards of natural resources.

Leadership and contact roles for Riveredge Nature Center Programs include an Executive Director (John) and specific contacts for different program areas: Sharon for donations, sponsorship, event rentals, or QPR training; Hannah for volunteering or special events; Jana S. for field trips and school programs; Renee for membership or event registration troubleshooting; Matt for conservation and land management, including conservation programs; Jana G. for bird banding and the Student Research Symposium; Mary for questions about wildlife at Riveredge, the sturgeon program, and adult education programs; Steff for homeschool, Summer Camp, Winter Camp, and the outdoor wheelchair; Alina for Scouting Group and Family Programs; and Amy for other questions and press inquiries. Riveredge lists strategic initiatives that include nature-rich lifestyles for all, wellness in nature, nurturing the next generation of conservationists, environmental educators, and researchers, and putting conservation into action. Riveredge Nature Center states that it does not allow pets and that ADA-qualifying service animals are always welcome, and that service animals must be on a leash, stay on the trails, and be under the control of their owner or handler at all times, except when being off-leash is necessary to perform tasks.
