About

Youth & Family Programs and Summer Day Camps offers activities that include swim lessons, swim leagues, lifeguard and safety certifications, aquatic exercise programs, sports leagues and sports programs, cheer and dance, and gymnastics. The program also includes seasonal family events, Y Nights (Parents Night Out), babysitting classes, Home Alone & Stranger Danger classes, preschool, 4K and extended care, before and after school care, Schools Out Fun Day, Summer Day Camps, and Specialty Camps. Additional offerings include group exercise classes, cycling classes, personal training, nutrition coaching, body composition testing, cooking demonstrations, wellness challenges, wellness presentations, the Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program, and the Diabetes Prevention Program.

• Ages: 0–13 years old

Youth sports leagues in this program offer equal play time for every player and promote sportsmanship and teamwork. Sports programs vary throughout the year for ages 2–12 with stated goals of building self confidence, socializing, sharing, and teamwork. The progressive dance and cheer program builds muscle coordination, poise, grace, and self-confidence. Gymnastics programs range from teaching kids to tumble, run, jump, and twist to building motor and socialization skills, with age ranges from 0–12. Seasonal Family Events are described as bringing the community closer in a festive and welcoming atmosphere, and Y Nights (Parents Night Out) are described as being for kids who want to join in on everything the Y has to offer while parents get a break. Schools Out Fun Day offers full-day childcare at five branch locations when schools are closed. Summer Day Camp options include camps for ages 4–6, 5–13, and 7–13, along with Specialty Camps for ages 7–13.

Babysitting classes, Home Alone & Stranger Danger classes, and lifeguard and safety certifications are taught by certified instructors. Personal training is provided by national certified personal trainers. The Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program includes support from trained ambassadors, and the Diabetes Prevention Program is led by a lifestyle coach. Wellness presentations are led by Healthy Living Instructors.

The mission of Youth & Family Programs and Summer Day Camps is “To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.” The program is offered in conjunction with the majority of YMCAs throughout the state of Wisconsin. It also collaborates with the Mukwonago Area School District and the School District of Waukesha to provide 4K to children.

For employers, YMCA Corporate Membership offerings connected to this program include the Diabetes Prevention Program and the Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program, wellness challenges, wellness presentations, and group exercise classes. YMCA Corporate Membership includes the Y matching 50% of the employer subsidy up to $10 per month, a complimentary one week trial membership for employees, one annual complimentary Wellness Presentation for employees, optional monthly tracking of employee usage upon request, and on-site membership sign-up opportunities at employer locations.
