Central Wisconsin Children’s Theatre

Central Wisconsin Children’s Theatre focuses on theatre arts, with children working on and performing in plays and musicals. The program also offers drama camps, and its shows generally rehearse for 6–8 weeks prior to performances. CWCT uses the motto “No Stage is Too Big” and is the only public theatre in its area offering theatre consistently for and by children.

Central Wisconsin Children’s Theatre was formed in 1979 by the merger of Wausau Children’s Theatre and The Merry Pipers. CWCT presents 4–5 main stage shows, including plays and musicals, each season from July through June, and holds drama camps during the summer. Over the years, hundreds of shows have been produced by thousands of children from Wausau and surrounding Central Wisconsin communities. CWCT states that it is dedicated to growth and educational opportunities for area youth through theatre arts and to providing a positive environment where participants learn theatre skills, empathy, and teamwork while working on and performing in plays, musicals, and related activities.
