About
Camp SuperHero includes interactive volunteer experiences, an introduction to local nonprofits, and hands-on volunteer activities. Participants take part in volunteer projects to benefit local community nonprofits, led by a Volunteer Center staff member Monday through Thursday at different nonprofit organizations.
• Ages: 10–17 years old
• Schedule: Two week-long, half-day camp sessions in July (July 6–10 and July 20–24), with leaders attending 8:15 AM–12:00 PM and campers attending 8:30 AM–12:00 PM
• Price: The cost for participation as a Camp Leader is $30 per session, and the cost for attending as a Camper is $145 per session; a camp t-shirt is included for both leaders and campers, and the last day for cancellations with a refund is May 1, 2026.
Each week, a Volunteer Center staff member leads a group of 30 or more participants to different nonprofit organizations where they take part in volunteer activities and learn about agencies that serve the community, with transportation to and from the nonprofits provided. Students entering grades 5–8 participate as campers, and students entering grades 9–12 serve as teen leaders. Teen Leaders work with staff to build meaningful relationships with campers and help them understand the need and impact of volunteerism in the community, and leaders are required to attend a June training from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM on a date to be determined. Camp SuperHero began in 2014 with the goal to get more students involved in volunteering, encourages, educates, develops, and empowers the next generation of leaders, and is a tribute to the late Doug Ziegler. Each summer, superheroes unite for positive change, and the program focuses on helping students discover their superpower through service.
