• Ages: 5–18 years old
Since 1910, Scouting America has instilled values of character, citizenship, and leadership in young people who have entered the Scouting program. The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Samoset Council has a strong tradition as one of the Nation’s premier Scout Councils, with a rich history of Scouting in North-Central Wisconsin. The Scouting experience in this council is divided into five programs according to age and activities: Cub Scouting for boys and girls in grades K–5, Scouts BSA for youth ages 11–17, Venturing for coed ages 14–20, Sea Scouts for coed ages 14–20, and Exploring for coed ages 14–20. With programs for young men and women, Scouting in this council addresses mentoring, lifelong learning, faith traditions, serving others, healthy living, and building character. Discovery is described as being at the heart of Scouting, and Scouting invites every youth to a safe, fun place to learn, explore, and grow. In 2024, Samoset Scouting reported more than 4,000 campers, 2,165 youth, 50 Eagle Scouts, over 30,000 service hours, and more than 6,400 achievements. The Silver Beaver Award is the highest-level award the council can give to a registered council volunteer. The Wausau Homes Scout Center facility was made possible by a donation from Marv and Ruth Schuette on behalf of the employees and builders of Wausau Homes, and the center includes a Scout Shop for uniforms, advancement purchases, publications, outdoor equipment, crafts, and more.
