About

Camp Joy is a year-round ministry that offers a multitude of camps, conferences, and retreats for all ages. Each camp’s schedule reserves daily quiet time for guests to spend with God in His Word and includes speakers who carefully study the Bible to proclaim the truths found there. The program offers over 65 different recreational activities and emphasizes godly mentors, wholesome fun, and personal time in God’s Word as part of its ministry founded on the Word of God.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Office hours Tuesday–Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm

Camp Joy’s mission is stated as “Pointing campers to the Word of God” and it functions as a spiritual greenhouse, filtering out everyday pressures and creating an ideal environment for spiritual growth. The ministry is dedicated to serving as an extension of local churches and is part of the Joy Baptist Camp Association. The Joy Baptist Camp Association will not knowingly hire or keep on their hired staff any person who practices, promotes, or condones lasciviousness, fornication, adultery, homosexual or lesbian conduct, abortion, and drug abuse, including the use of tobacco and the drinking of alcohol. Camp Joy’s director is John Moore.

In 1959, Pastor John Loggans, a pastor in the area, had a vision for a Baptist youth camp that could be used by local Baptist churches. In 1961, the camp purchased a total of 21 acres for $12,500, including frontage on Whitewater Lake, and later added an additional 20 acres. By June of 1962, the camp opened its doors to youth of all ages, and in 1976, the board of directors decided the camp needed a full-time director.
