Holiday Home Camp
Holiday Home Camp, 361 N Lake Shore Drive, Williams Bay, WI 53191
About
Holiday Home Camp offers swimming, games, campfires, nature hikes, arts and crafts, and other nature activities. Many campers are experiencing nature, safety, and positive role models for the first time, and Holiday Home Camp welcomes many first-time overnight campers each summer. Campers can return year after year, building friendships and strengthening their skills over time, and older youth may join the ELITE Teen Leadership Program, a year-round leadership program that meets monthly and focuses on leadership development, life skills, and personal growth.
• Schedule: After registration, families receive a detailed packing list that includes clothing, bedding, toiletries, and optional comfort items to help campers feel prepared and comfortable.
Holiday Home Camp follows clear supervision guidelines, age-appropriate programming, water safety procedures, health protocols, and a positive behavior approach centered on respect and community. Campers are supervised at all times by trained, caring counselors who live on-site and work closely with their cabin groups, and the leadership team and on-site health staff provide additional oversight and support throughout the day and night. Holiday Home Camp and the Outdoor Wisconsin Leadership School (OWLS) are owned and operated by the Lake Geneva Fresh Air Association.
OWLS offers custom designed programs for learning, personal growth, and team development in an outdoor environment, and uses experiential education methods that involve participants intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. With over 30 years of experience, OWLS is one of the leading providers of experiential education programs in the Midwest. OWLS facilitators receive nearly 80 hours of technical training for the safe operation of the high elements on campus and more than 100 hours of training in basic and advanced facilitation skills, and they also spend time shadowing one another to learn new facilitation techniques and provide constructive feedback for professional growth. OWLS staff are members of the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) and the Association for Experiential Education (AEE), and ACCT is the primary challenge course industry trade group that develops course construction and operations standards and has created national standards and a voluntary certification process for challenge course facilitators and managers.
The stated purpose of the program is to enable individuals and organizations to grow through experiences that foster insight and skill development, and to encourage the application of these experiences to promote healthier, more fulfilling, and productive communities. A testimonial from Park Junior High School notes that the OWLS staff created a custom program to fit the group’s needs and that students who were not expected to assume leadership roles did so, and that students returned with a new awareness and respect for staff members.
