• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Options on Friday mornings, Saturday mornings, and Sunday afternoons
RISE Tutoring is a program of the American Muslim Women’s Association and is sponsored by the American Muslim Women’s Association. It began in May 2013 and, as of October 2018, had expanded to a third location at Valencia Newcomer School, a one-year immersion school for refugee and migrant children, where it provides classroom support. The organization consists of over 60 tutors and 40 students and holds recruitment cycles twice per year toward the beginning of each academic semester. It accepts monetary donations, school supplies, and books, and has partnerships with the Alhambra School District, specifically through Valencia Newcomer School as of 2018. One quote shared by the program is: “How wonderful it is that no one has to wait, but can start right now to gradually change the world! How wonderful it is that everyone, great and small, can immediately help bring about justice by giving of themselves.”—Anne Frank.
