Sunshine Sunflower Studio

Sunshine Sunflower Studio offers hands-on art activities including ceramics, pottery, clay sculpture, painting, mosaics, paint parties, woodworking, metal smithing, jewelry design, cookie decorating, printmaking, and paint your own pottery. The program also offers wheel throwing, painting workshops, kids birthday parties where children create their own ornaments, private parties and events, corporate team building, off-site workshops, and an open studio option for experienced clay artists to work on independent projects for a small fee.

Sunshine Sunflower Studio is led by ceramic artist Laurie Canfield, who began studying ceramics while earning her BA at Eckerd College. She earned an MA in Art Education from the University of Florida, then spent eleven years as a public school art teacher and five years working in community arts before opening Sunshine Sunflower Studio in May 2020. The studio collaborates with local artisans who teach workshops in areas such as jewelry making, metal smithing, cookie decorating, and printmaking, and it includes a gift shop featuring handmade items by local artists and makers. Artwork from Sunshine Sunflower Studio is available for purchase locally at Sunshine Sunflower, West Valley Arts Council's HQ Gallery, and The Merchantile of Scottsdale, and is also available for shipping through the studio’s website and Etsy shop. The studio’s stated mission is that there is an artist in everyone, and that the owner enjoys providing people of all ages with chances to get creative and bring their ideas to life.
