• Schedule: Year-round weekly piano lessons Monday–Saturday, with a fall lesson schedule beginning August 4, 2025; PRELUDE Fall 2025 semester includes 18 classes from August 4–December 9, 2025; violin instruction lessons are offered on Wednesdays starting fall 2025
Music Works Community has been in the Phoenix valley since 1974 and relocated to its current facility in the North Central Corridor in 1996. The program is formerly known as Music Works Academy and is also known as “The Piano Place.” It is an association of piano instructors that offers year-round lessons and classes in piano and now also offers violin instruction. Piano and violin lessons are available for all ages, from preschoolers to senior citizens, with several lesson formats including private lessons, Piano Partnerships, and Parent Piano Classes. Piano study at Music Works Community includes all levels of repertoire and all styles of music.
Music Works Community is the home of Prelude: A Musical Beginning, which offers music classes for toddlers through first grade. ShiningStars piano discovery classes serve preschool and PreK children ages 3–5 in groups of four to six children, and LeapFrogs piano classes serve kindergarten and first grade children ages 5–6+ in groups of four to six children. The Musicianship Lab is an additional component beyond the weekly lesson and is available in-studio or online, and the schedule allows students to move between online and in-studio lesson formats without schedule adjustments. Piano Lab is scheduled as a 20-minute block before or after the lesson time with the instructor, and a virtual option for the MWC Lab is available for students who wish to do this from home.
Music Works Community has three teaching studios and a main studio that accommodates four to six students with an instructor for group instructional opportunities. The main studio includes a Schimmel grand piano and a Roland digital piano interfaced with a sound system. The PRELUDE Piano Program uses a space with seven keyboards, a large gathering drum, and many other instruments for weekly small group piano lessons and piano discovery classes. A Music Education Tech-Time lab, equipped with three pianos interfaced with Chromebooks and iPads, is an integral part of the academic school year piano program. The facility has on-site parking and a carport entrance, and 2,500 square feet of the residence is dedicated to studio space. An air purification system, the Reme HALO-LED RGF Air Purification System with PHI Technology, has been installed.
Music Works Community is owned and directed by Carolyn Inabinet, NCTM, who also serves as a piano instructor. The program states that it is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in music students of all ages. A use permit and variance from the City of Phoenix allow the corner residential property that fronts on Bethany Home Road to house a music school.
